The Bright Thoughts Company
Founded in 1981, as one of the very first British independent television production companies, The Bright Thoughts Company created a significant amount of performance-based programming for Channel 4. In 2025 Bright Thoughts is focused on remastering and marketing its rich catalogue of quality television, working with distribution partners and licensing proven entertainment formats to the rapidly evolving entertainment industry.

Neil AnthonyMy ambition is for our productions to reach their natural audiences once again.
The Bright Thoughts catalogue is "entertainment, pure and simple!" We worked with performers at the very top of their game, whose names still resonate both nationally and internationally. Undoubtedly, there is an enduring demand for good 'solid' entertainment - musical and theatrical performance - from any period. We are now consciously tapping into the thirst for classic TV content - featuring star talent from all eras - to watch on-demand. |
ContactContactContactOur goal is to make our many arts and entertainment shows available on streaming, download-to-own, and other platforms for a worldwide audience. In the pre-digital age, within the broadcast sector, it was generally accepted that once a show had been screened, it had little or no further value. Platforms such as YouTube and Tubi have very clearly demonstrated that, in today's entertainment market, there is now a rapidly-expanding demand for quality older television.
As an independent content provider, we are now working with new distribution and licensing partners to make Bright Thoughts shows and formats available internationally. Please get in touch!

Neil started out as a professional dancer and choreographer working in the West End. As soon as he realised his talents were more suited to television than stage, he focused more on the technical aspects of TV production.
He enjoyed innovation and coming up with new ideas and new formats which is why being one of the 'indies' in the early 80s was a natural thing to do. He produced, staged and/or choreographed all shows produced by The Bright Thoughts Company. Neil curates the Bright Thoughts catalogue since relaunch. The focus now is on distribution to the non-broadcast platforms and also the placement of the Intellectual Property. |
Bryan lived for Television. For most of his life, the family home was near Dorking in Surrey where he was also born. When he graduated from Oxford he trained as a BBC producer after which he never stopped producing and directing even when he was Head of Entertainment at Scottish TV and later at Southern TV.
Whilst he is often remembered for the 70s sit-com hits and shows such as 'On The Buses', we must never lose sight that for many years he also produced serious arts programmes including being a regular director/producer of The South Bank Show. Bryan Izzard 1936 - 2006 |
