In 2024 the industry and audience trends lead to ever more archive programming being more available and easy to access. Older British television programming is increasingly viewed as being of both artistic and cultural value, worthy of preservation and distribution.
Bright Thoughts programmes featured a great many significant and serious performers at key moments in their careers, and we would love for this body of work to find a new audience.
With streaming and 'download-to-own' options becoming more available, we firmly believe that all our programmes should be accessible on demand for all.
Channel 4 had tiny audiences in those early years, meaning that, no matter how good the programming, very few were actually watching. Now, more than ever, it is time for this rare and unique footage to be rediscovered, not locked away to deteriorate in an archive never to be seen again. As Ron Geesin rightly says "art is made for consumption not extinction!"
