Other theatrical plays which, one way or another are adapted for TV audiences and each adapted, recorded and edited down to a one-hour slot. Sometimes recorded in front of live audiences, sometimes not.
TV Adaptations
NOTES: Three selected here all have particular American connections and all three recorded in London with TVI facilities and were all experimental to meet the Channel 4 brief:
- 'Hollywood Hits Chiswick' - a play written for TV about the improbable life of W.C. Fields, starring Derek Newark, with Caroline Quentin, Julie Legrad, Steve Gardener, Elizabeth Counsell, written by Mike Sharland. Recorded on location at the former site of the Empire Theatre, Chiswick. (TX 08/09/83)
- 'Sganarelle', Molière farces performed by the American Repertory Theatre and recorded at the Duke of York's Theatre, St Martin's Lane, London. Edited either as 1 x two hour programme and as four individual farces.
- 'The Other Side of London’ - starring Ron Moody about villainous characters of historical London including Fagin, with Jan Ravens and Vivienne Martins, written by Ron Moody and Ronnie Cass. Recorded on location throughout London. (TX 31/12/83)
- 'Pure Libby' - a one-woman show by Canadian actress and comedian Libby Morris based on her cabaret show where she displays her range from Piaf to Bette Davis, from Gershwin to Bernstein. Recorded at the Shaw Theatre. (TX 04/08/83)
