Other theatrical plays which, one way or another are adapted for TV audiences and each adapted, recorded and edited down to a one-hour slot. Sometimes recorded in front of live audiences, sometimes not, as is the case with Hollywood Hits Chiswick.
TV Adaptations
NOTES: Three selected here all have particular American connections and all three recorded in London with TVI facilities and were all experimental to meet the Channel 4 brief:
- 'Groucho In Toto' - a stage play based on the life and style of Groucho Marx, starring Jon Rumney, with Lyn Webster and James House, written by Alec Baron. Recorded at the Shaw Theatre, Euston Road, London. (TX 11/12/82)
- 'Sganarelle', Molière farces performed by the American Repertory Theatre and recorded at the Duke of York's Theatre, St Martin's Lane, London. Edited either as 1 x two hour programme and as four individual farces.
- 'Hollywood Hits Chiswick' - a play written for TV about the improbable life of W.C. Fields, starring Derek Newark, with Caroline Quentin, Julie Legrad, Steve Gardener, Elizabeth Counsell, written by Mike Sharland. Recorded on location at the former site of the Empire Theatre, Chiswick. (TX 08/09/83)
